Black And Tan Yorkshire Terriers (Traditional)

The most common color pattern for Yorkies is black and tan. This color scheme features a dark black coat with tan markings around the face, legs, and chest. The black and tan color is often referred to as the traditional color for Yorkies and is one of the most recognizable traits of the breed.

If a Yorkie breaks coat, the color usually starts to change first on its head when the puppy is around 6 months. The blue color found in Yorkies is not the typical blue we commonly use in art. It is more of a diluted black color, and it can be seen in a variety of shades, ranging from a dark steel blue to a shiny silver-blue. The dark steel blue can easily be mistaken for black, but when observed closely in the sunlight, you can see the  difference between steel blue and black. The saturated steel blue color is very difficult to produce.

Parti Yorkshire Terriers

Parti Yorkies also known as “parti-color” Yorkies, most commonly have black, white, and tan coloring. This color pattern features a white coat with black or brown markings. Parti Yorkies can also have tan markings around the face, legs, and chest. Parti Yorkies are highly sought after for their unique and eye-catching coloring.

Golden Yorkies (also known as Blonde Yorkies or Sable Yorkies) are extremely rare. Golden Yorkies have a golden, honey-colored coat. A gold Yorkshire Terrier has a golden or tan color on its head, chest, legs, and other areas, while the rest of the coat is a rich, dark blue or steel blue.

Chocolate Yorkies feature a rich brown or chocolate-colored coat with tan markings around the face, legs, and chest. Chocolate and tan Yorkies are often referred to as “chocolate Yorkies” and are highly prized for their unique coloring and light brown eyes and nose.
